Starting your day with intention helps to create a positive and productive day ahead.
When you first wake up in the morning, you naturally pass through a light state of hypnosis, or an alpha brainwave state, as you progress from deep sleep (delta brainwaves) to your waking state (beta brainwaves).
This is the perfect time to take advantage of your natural hypnotic state and engage in a quick morning routine to imagine your ideal day from morning to night.
Untapped Potential: The Power of Intention
I used to work at a job that I did not enjoy. Every Sunday night I felt a pit in my stomach, thinking about the week ahead. Each morning I woke up, dreading going to work and thinking about how stressful the day would be.
The job was not a good fit, the work did not align with some of my highest values and I was making things worse than they had to be with my attitude. I was miserable.
Around this time I started studying hypnosis and the power of the subconscious mind. What I came to realize was how I was amplifying my stress at work with my thoughts and expectations.
I was allowing the negativity to affect me every single day.
Using my newfound knowledge, I began to create several hypnotic strategies to get me through those dark days. My morning routine became essential, allowing me to be more aware of the parts of my job I did enjoy and appreciate the difference I was able to make for my clients in their lives. Instead of letting the negative aspects of the job define my day, I was able to shift my mindset to focus on the parts that lifted me up and brought me satisfaction.
Even though I left that job years ago, I still do my morning routine every single day. I’ve seen how powerful it can be and I know first-hand how well it works.
I want to share my morning routine with you and help you start your day with a success mindset too.
Setting Intentions for the Day
Most mornings I wake up before my alarm goes off, but if my alarm wakes me up, I hit the snooze button just in case I fall asleep again while doing my morning routine.
To start, I begin by closing my eyes again and focusing on my breathing for a moment. I take a couple nice, deep belly breaths, exhaling slowly.
Using all of my senses, I begin imagining my day ahead.
- What do I want it to look like?
- What do I want it to sound like?
- What do I want it to feel like?
- Do I notice any scents or tastes?
When you imagine something really vividly using all of your senses, your subconscious mind can’t distinguish between imagination and reality. If you are someone who finds it challenging to visualize, simply use your other senses, and this will still work for you.
I imagine myself completing my morning tasks with ease and clarity, showing up for my clients at my best, guiding them to achieve healing and breakthroughs, and getting through my to-do list feeling energized and productive.
I see my clients in my minds’ eye, I hear myself hypnotizing them, I hear them thanking me for a great session, and I visualize coming home after a rewarding day of work to spend the evening with the love of my life. When thinking about scents and tastes, I may imagine myself drinking a perfect cup of tea at work, and smelling the chai spices.
I feel deep gratitude for it all.
Wrapping up, I say two or three affirmations to myself specific to the day ahead — something simple like:
- “Today is going to be an amazing day!”
- “Something wonderful is going to happen today”
- “Today is going to be a very productive day”
Other times my affirmations may relate to a goal I set for myself that day.
Using the power of visualization and mental rehearsal has been invaluable to me. When you expect your day to go well, it usually does.
Changing Your Mindset
If you believe that you don't have time in your hectic schedule for meditation or self-hypnosis, the truth is, you only need a couple minutes each morning. When you prioritize these practices for personal growth and clarity, you’ll start to create your day as you intend rather than letting it unfold for you.
As you're waking up, you're already passing through a natural state of hypnosis while your conscious mind isn't fully activated, lowering the resistance and barriers to your subconscious mind. Unfortunately, most people spend this time thinking about what they don't want and their subconscious mind takes note, guiding their behaviour and mood for the day ahead.
The people who see the biggest change when starting a morning routine like this are the ones who wake up each morning dreading the day ahead. They're unhappy with their job and life and haven't taken the time to connect with their true desires.
Once they take a few extra minutes each morning to vividly imagine their day ahead and set their intentions they'll begin to experience:
Increased Self-Awareness and Intentionality
When you take the time to connect with yourself through activities like meditation or visualization, you’ll begin to cultivate a deeper understanding of your desires, goals, and values. This heightened self-awareness allows you to set clear intentions for the day, align your actions with your values, and make choices that support your personal growth and well-being.
Improved Emotional/Overall Well-Being
By engaging in sessions that focus on self-care, self-love, and gratitude, you’ll notice a more positive mindset and start to nurture your mental and emotional health. This holistic approach to well-being enhances your resilience, self-awareness, and overall life satisfaction.
Reduced Stress and Improved Emotional Balance
Through a guided hypnosis session during your morning routine, you can release tension and negative emotions, allowing you to start the day with a calm and centered mindset. This newfound emotional equilibrium enables you to navigate challenges with resilience and poise.
Get Started On Your Morning Routine
When you focus your thoughts toward creating a positive mindset each morning, you’ll begin to feel more energized, alert, and motivated throughout the day. You'll be able to connect more clearly with what's important in life as well as set achievable goals that align.
I've created a free 2-minute guided hypnosis audio to help get you started. Listen to it each morning as you wake up.
By going through the routine each morning, you'll start to recondition your mind to think about what you do want, imagine everything going well, and experience a more positive outlook in your life.
Remember — your subconscious mind subtly guides your behaviour according to what you have imagined vividly and this creates your reality.
The more often you do this guided morning routine, the more it will improve your mindset over time. Before you know it, you won't even need to listen to the recording. You'll be able to guide yourself through the steps each day in a powerful process known as self-hypnosis.

When you see how life-changing this simple ritual can be, you may be inspired to add an evening routine too. You pass through the same alpha brainwave state as you’re falling asleep at night, and this is also a great time to imagine achieving future goals, practice gratitude and engage in visualization exercises such as mental rehearsal. If you fall asleep thinking positive thoughts, you’re much more likely to sleep soundly and wake up feeling optimistic.
